Programme Aim:
The National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and
Care (Level 3) provides a basic introduction to the skills and
knowledge involved in the education and care of infants,
toddlers and young children within the socio-cultural context
of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Entry Criteria:
• A minimum of 18 years of age
• Applicants must undergo a Police Check,
interview and provide their curriculum vitae
• Good communication skills and a desire to work with
children aged between 0-6 years within the New
Zealand early childhood sector

Paper Delivery Plan:
All identified papers will be delivered within one semester.
Graduate Outcomes:
Graduates of this course will be prepared to undertake Level
5 studies in the field of early childhood education and care.
Introductory understandings about working in the field of
early childhood education will be understood and initial care
skills practiced under supervision.
Career Opportunities:
This qualification may lead to further education, for
example:
