The people at NZCC

Senior Leadership Team

Mark Worsop , Chief Executive, NZMA

Mark has been involved in the private tertiary education sector for over a decade in a variety of management roles. He joined NZMA in 2007, initially working in the domestic business as the Director of New Zealand Students, and then as NZMA’s Director of New Business and Product Development and Director of International Operations. He is now the General Manager for the ACG Tertiary and Careers Group.

Prior to moving into education, Mark’s background was in the business field where most recently he held a business and economic development role focussing on Pacifika communities in New Zealand. As part of this role Mark worked with a number of businesses across a variety of sectors providing advisory services to improve business performance and was engaged in both regional and national economic development and research groups.

Ana Maria Rivera , Director of Marketing – Domestic, ACG

Ana Maria sets the strategy and implementation of the domestic sales and marketing functions of the ACG Group. She leads the domestic marketing team (responsible for marketing strategy, innovation and driving brand awareness for both Tertiary and Schools) as well as the recruitment/sales and employment teams in the ACG Tertiary & Careers Group.

A Colombian native, Ana Maria moved from the UK to New Zealand in 2013, taking up the reins as Director of Sales and Marketing at NZMA, before being appointed General Manager, Sales and Marketing for the ACG Tertiary & Careers Group. She grew the domestic sales, marketing and student employment teams, and ensured performance targets were exceeded every year, and the organisation’s sales, marketing and career partner strategies were future proofed.

Prior to joining the education sector, Ana Maria enjoyed a highly successful publishing career within large multinationals, including Sales Director roles at HarperCollins and Penguin Books. She held senior level account relations with trade, supermarket and online customers and acted as the commercial lead for product brand management and acquisition of key properties.  She was also responsible for new product launches, including everything from James Bond and Jamie Oliver books to biographies of world renowned cultural icons!

Kathy Maclaren , General Manager - Quality & Academic Development - ACG Tertiary & Careers Group

After nearly two decades with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Kathy is now using her significant expertise to head the ACG Tertiary & Careers Group’s Quality team.  It is a challenging extension to her previous role as Manager, Approval and Accreditation (Strategy) at NZQA, and enables her to focus on the whole quality assurance framework from a single organisation point of view.

During her 19 years at NZQA, Kathy enjoyed significant success.  She implemented the New Zealand Register of Quality Assured Qualifications (the pre-cursor to the NZ Qualifications Framework), and the on-going operationalisation of the NZQF.   Other highlights included managing change in a constrained environment, and advising and influencing other countries on their qualifications and quality assurance developments. For the last nine years Kathy has held several leadership positions within NZQA, across different aspects of the tertiary education sector. The expertise she has developed through these roles assists greatly with organisational quality development across the ACG Tertiary & Careers Group.

Leanda Bekker , Sales Manager – ACG Tertiary & Careers Group

Leanda works across all campuses, supporting sales teams to meet enrolment targets, and working with our careers teams to ensure that students are work-ready, and employment outcomes are meeting student and stakeholder requirements.

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Leanda moved to New Zealand in 2001, bringing with her a wealth of business, sales and hospitality experience. She joined NZMA in 2004, and since then has held a variety of senior roles within the organisation including General Manager – International Sales, and Campus Principal positions at all three of NZMA’s campuses, most recently at NZMA Waikato.  Now Leanda has returned to Auckland to take up the newly-created position of ACG Tertiary Sales Manager.

Monique Le Marque , Regional Manager Manukau, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato – ACG Tertiary & Careers Group

Monique’s key areas of responsibility are business orchestration, strategic business planning, compliance, public relations and people management.  She oversees all NZCC operations, people management, is responsible for internal and external networking (TEC, MoE, education providers, industry and local government) and contributes to new business development.

Prior to joining the team Monique was the Operations Manager for Ochre Business Solutions, and has also held managerial positions overseeing youth education projects for the Australian Federal Government, the Ministry of Social Development and  Work and Income.  She is passionate about issues such as Economic Empowerment, Civil Rights and Social Services, Alleviation of Poverty and Women Leadership which have seen her hold leadership roles within the YWCA of Aotearoa NZ.  Highly committed to the education sector, Monique is a member of numerous educational organisations including CATE (Careers & Transition Education Association), NZIM (NZ Institute of Management), Pathway Advisory Group (Ministry of Education), Pathways West Governance Group, Youth Guarantee Governance Group (Papakura/Manurewa), and Youth Guarantee Networks for Otara/Papatoetoe and Mangere/Otahuhu.
