Success Stories

New Zealand Career College gives students a great start to a career in early childhood education – a profession that
offers many opportunities. Two students, Jessica Shah and Vicki Silva were offered jobs during their 1st practicum
placement, and are well on their way to achieving their career goals.

Vicki started working half a day from 27th June at First Steps. She works the 1pm to 5pm shift at present and will work full-time during term breaks.The staff at the centre and the Child’s Needs assessor have seen and documented positive changes for a child taking place while Vicki was working with him. The family of the child also had positive feedback given to the centre manager regarding her work during her practicum.

Jessica will start during term breaks after she completes Diploma in ECE (Pasifika) Level 5 in December.Her Associate Teacher commented that she has good relationships with children, parents and colleagues and has done many cultural activities with Pasifika resources which integrated well with the Reggio philosophy of the centre, Bright Sparks!
